‘Fantastic beasts:the secrets of Dumbledore’ Review

The Secrets of Dumbledore does not fail to be part of a good Dumbledore backstory. It does however fail to be a great Magical world entry. It fails to be a rounded story of its own.

The effects are of course spectacular, Warner Bros has the budget for these films if they keep performing in the box office. The question is, do they deserve to? This films greatest asset is in its title, Dumbledore themed drama. Dumbledore is famously in love with Grindelwald and is going to have to take him out at some point. This drama is wasted to keep the previously central characters central. Newt Schamander is a beautiful representation of non-aggressive masculinity and I love Eddie Redmayne in the role, it is however time for the character to step aside. Let Dumbledore take the lead on the next film.

This film doesn’t really advance the plot of the franchise at all by the end only one key device has been altered, its best prospect for the future.Dumbledore is now able to fight Grindelwald when it is needed. Hopefully the next installation will focus on Grindelwald and Dumbledore going to war with each other, against their deepest wishes. That would be great.
