‘Morbius’ Review

Having grown up with the Fox Kids run of Spiderman, which can now be found on Disney+, Michael Morbius is a character that I remember fondly.

The living vampire first introduced in 1971 featured a mildly heartbreaking tale of a man with good intentions gone wrong which plays up to the romanticism attached to Dracula.  The film however, is not. Morbius’ Hour and forty four minute runtime is a chaotic grab to provide cinematic thrills.  At times the films achieves some entertainment but by and far large drops the ball. Jared Leto and Matt smith are clearly having a good deal of fun with the roles they have been given, but it just isn’t enough to save a film with very rushed story.

Michael Morbius and his friend Lucien are dying of a blood disease… Lucien by the way is called Milo the entire film, named after an already dead friend, with no emotional repercussions at all. You would think that being nicknamed after someones dead friend would be agitating, but no, it's not a problem. Anyway Michael grows to be a radical scientist who aims to cure his illness. Upon finding the cure, he finds that it is also a curse. Morbius must now feed on Human blood or regress in his health drastically. An ‘experimentation’ sequence serves as a rushed training montage and we now have a superpower scientist. When Milo comes to visit he discovers Michael’s ‘cure' and takes it all too willingly. A thin veneer of morality differences separates the two main characters. Morbius versus Milo, need the rest be explained.
Scenes come and go, ultimately the film doesn’t have much in the way of character development, with excepting to gaining superpowers. I don’t have much to say about this film at all…. I like the little movements his ear bones make when he listens super hard?

Also, the post credit scenes are a mess.
